On Day 95 of the US-Backed Israeli Genocidal War on Gaza Strip, 12 Massacres, 126 Palestinians Killed, 241 Injured, with a Death Toll of  23,210 and 59,167 Injuries

January 9, 2024

***

Editor's Notes:

Here are some initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip:

By January 9, 2024, the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip is 30,210+.

This includes the accounted for deaths (23,210) and those who are still missing under the rubble (Corrected on December 23, 2023: 7,000+).

By January 9, 2024, the documented injuries exceeded 59,167, and more than 2,520 civilians have been abducted from Gaza Strip.

By January 4, 2023, the death toll included 9,730+ children and 6,830+ women.

By January 9, 2024, there were 337 Palestinians who were killed, 3,587 who were injured, and 5,755, who were abducted by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, since October 7, 2023.

About 12,091 Palestinians, from both the West Bank and Gaza, have been detained in 2023. About half of them were detained after October 7. This included 1,085 children and 300 women.

The total number of detainees in the occupation prisons until the end of December was 8,800, and the number of administrative detainees was 3,291.

***

By January 9, 2023,  there was a complete destruction of 69,000+ housing units, and a partial destruction of 290,000+ housing units (60% of Gaza housing units). This forced about 1.5 million people to become homeless, taking refuge in crowded UN schools and ultimately sleeping in the streets.

The Israeli refusal to allow international aid caravans to enter Gaza freely led the Palestinian population to be on the verge of mass extermination for the lack of food, water, medicine, and fuel.

By January 9, 2024, 326 health personnel and 97 journalists were killed and hundreds were injured, 121 ambulances were destroyed while on duty, killing and injuring their crews, and destroyed 150 health institutions. As a result of the strikes and lack of fuel, 30 hospitals and 53 primary care centers are not functioning. In addition, 99 health personnel have been abducted by the invading Israeli occupation forces.

Meanwhile, 134 government offices and 95 schools and universities were completely destroyed, while 295 schools and universities were partially damaged.

138 mosques were completely destroyed, while 240 others were partially damaged, in addition to three churches.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza, which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.

Defense for Children calls 2023 “year of genocide” against Palestinian children

Tuesday 9-January-2024, RAMALLAH, (PIC)

Defense for Children International (DCI) said the Israeli occupation forces had killed at least 8,000 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip and 121 others in the West Bank and Jerusalem in 2023, calling it the “year of genocide” against Palestinian children.

In a statement on Tuesday, DCI-Palestine added that the unprecedented number of children killed in the Israeli deadly campaign against the Palestinians, which started on October 7, 2023, might increase due to the huge number of undiscovered bodies and the ongoing Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people, who are currently living under dire conditions, especially in Gaza.

DCI pointed out that the children killed last year in the West Bank and Al-Quds (Jerusalem) were targeted by live ammunition fired by settlers and soldiers or by missiles fired by Israeli aircraft.

DCI also accused the Israeli army of indiscriminately and deliberately targeting civilian and medical infrastructure and structures to create intolerable living conditions for the Palestinian citizens in Gaza

It said that the Israeli forces bombed major medical facilities in Gaza and prevented much-needed fuel from reaching them.

WHO pleads for better access across besieged Gaza enclave, says relief is arriving "too little, too late"

Four-year-old Ghazal, a Palestinian young child injured in an Israeli strike receiving treatment at Al-Nasir Hospital in Khan Younus, in southern Gaza, where doctors were forced to amputate her leg to save her life.

GENEVA, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 (WAFA) -

With no let-up in fighting across Gaza, the World Health Organization (WHO) pleaded today for better access across the besieged Gaza enclave, where relief is arriving "too little, too late" to help civilians caught up in the ongoing conflict.

"Even if there is no ceasefire, you would expect humanitarian corridors to operate... in a much more sustained way than what's happening now," said Sean Casey, Emergency Medical Teams Coordinator for the World Health Organization (WHO), speaking from Rafa'h in southern Gaza.

Humanitarian assistance and particularly food is desperately needed across Gaza, particularly in northern areas, Casey stressed.

"The food situation in the north is absolutely horrific, there's almost no food available," he told journalists in Geneva via video. "Everybody we talk to begs for food and comes up and asks, 'Where, where's the food?' People help us get our medical supplies through. But they are constantly telling us that we need to come back with food."

Echoing that appeal and expressing concerns about intensifying hostilities in the south, Rik Peeperkorn, WHO Representative for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, explained that moving staff and supplies "safely and swiftly" had been compromised, as deconfliction is required for any moves across Gaza, including the south, often leading to delays.

In addition to getting more essential supplies into Gaza, what was also needed urgently was easier movement of humanitarian aid and workers within the enclave, "so that we can reach people wherever they are,” Peeperkorn explained.

According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, 23,084 people have been killed in the enclave; of whom 70 percent were women and children. Nearly 59,000 people have also been injured, which is approximately 2.7 percent of Gaza's population.

The WHO official insisted that the UN and its partners remained "completely ready" to deliver assistance to Gazans, who have endured a massive bombing campaign by the Israel military, but stressed that hostilities and evacuation orders in Gaza's central areas and further south in Khan Younis have affected access to hospitals for patients and ambulances, Peeperkorn explained, adding that it has also become "incredibly complex" for WHO to reach "ailing" facilities with medical supplies and fuel.

Of concern are three hospitals located near evacuation zones - European Gaza Hospital, Nasser Medical Complex and Al-Aqsa - "a lifeline" in the south for about two million people, the WHO official said, speaking from Jerusalem.

"(The) constricted flow of supplies and access and evacuation of medical staff from many hospitals due to fears for safety is a recipe for disaster and will make more hospitals non-functional, as witnessed in the north. The international community must not allow this to happen," Peeperkorn said.

“One indication of the "shrinking space" for lifesaving humanitarian work in the enclave is the fact that the UN health agency has not reached northern Gaza for two weeks.”

A total of six planned WHO humanitarian missions have had to be canceled since 26 December, according to the UN health agency. "Our team is ready to deliver but we have not been able to receive the necessary permissions to proceed safely," Peeperkorn explained.

Killing and Injuring of Palestinians in the West Bank by Israeli Occupation Regime Forces

Palestinian man killed by Israeli occupation forces' fire following alleged stabbing attack near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 (WAFA) -

A Palestinian man in his early 30s was killed this afternoon after being shot by Israeli occupation forces near the military checkpoint of 'Ain Sinya to the north of Ramallah, according to the Ministry of Health.

The young man, who was identified as 31-year-old Ibrahim Samee'h Jayousi, was shot dead by the occupation forces near the said checkpoint north of Ramallah.

Local sources said that forces opened fire at a man near the 'Ain Sinya checkpoint after he allegedly attempted to carry out a stabbing attack. The occupation forces closed the checkpoint in the aftermath of the shooting and prevented Palestinians from crossing.

This route is considered one of the few available routes that Palestinians have been using to enable them to enter or exit the city of Ramallah due to the intensified erection of checkpoints, roadblocks, ongoing closures to cities and villages, and the threat of settler attacks since October 7, which all have resulted in severe restrictions on movement and left Palestinians forced to use longer alternative roads to reach their destination.

Israeli occupation forces raid Tulkarm city, camps and nearby towns

TULKARM, Tuesday, January 8, 2024 (WAFA) -

Israeli occupation forces last night stormed the city and camp of Tulkarm.

WAFA correspondent said that the occupation forces stormed the city of Tulkarm from its western and southern entrances, passing through Kadoorie University Street and Jamal Abdul Nasir Square in the center of the city, and deployed in its various streets that connect it to the vicinity of the Tulkarm camp.

The occupation forces bombed a site in Al-'Hamam neighborhood in the Tulkarm camp with a missile from a drone, resulting in nine civilians being slightly injured. First aid was provided to them inside the camp.

WAFA correspondent added that the occupation forces detained two ambulances at the entrance to Tulkarm camp transporting two wounded people following the recent occupation bombing and prevented them from transporting them to the Martyr Thabit Thabit Governmental Hospital.

The occupation bulldozer demolished the memorial made in tribute to slain Palestinians shot by Israeli occupation forces in Nadi neighborhood, while the occupation forces smashed the doors of schools and deployed their vehicles in their courtyards, turning them into military barracks, in addition to destroying a number of shops and commercial establishments in the center of the camp.

The occupation bulldozers destroyed the infrastructure in Al-Sa'ha area in the middle of Nour Shams camp, east of the city, after storming it, coinciding with the continued storming of Tulkarm camp and the city for more than 6 hours.

She added that the occupation forces surrounded the Tulkarm camp from all its entrances, specifically the Martyr Thabit Thabit Governmental Hospital Street, Al-Muqata'a Street, and Nablus Street adjacent to its main northern entrance. They deployed their snipers on the roofs of the tall buildings surrounding it, and sent in additional reinforcements and military bulldozers from the western entrance of the city, simultaneously as drones were flying over the city and the camp.

WAFA correspondent indicated that confrontations broke out between Palestinian youths and the occupation soldiers, who fired heavy bullets, while sounds of explosions were heard in the area.

The occupation bulldozers razed the infrastructure in Al-Balawnah neighborhood, Al-Wakala Schools Street, and the vicinity of the northern entrance to the camp along Nablus Street adjacent to it.

The occupation forces fired light bombs into the sky of the camp, coinciding with the sounds of explosions being heard from time to time inside the camp.

The soldiers also obstructed ambulances while on their way to the camp, detained and searched them, and deliberately caused significant interference in Internet networks.

This raid comes approximately three hours after an Israeli special force stormed the Aktaba suburb, east of Tulkarm, assassinated three young men and detained two others.

Tuesday 9-January-2024, AL-QUDS (OCCUPIED JERUSALEM), (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detonated on Tuesday the houses of martyrs Murad and Ibraheem Nimr, resistance fighters from Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, in Soor Bahir town, southeast of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).

According to local sources, a large number of Israeli occupation soldiers stormed Soor Bahir town in the morning, encircled the martyrs’ homes, and forced their residents to evacuate before they embarked on planting explosives inside them and then detonated them.

The IOF also forced families living in nearby houses to leave them before they carried out the punitive measure against the martyrs’ homes.

The brothers, Murad and Ibraheem, carried out a shooting operation on a road near the illegal settlement of Ramot in Occupied Jerusalem last November. Four Jewish settlers were killed as a result of the operation.

At the time, the Hamas Movement applauded the shooting operation in Jerusalem as a “heroic act” and a “natural response to the Israeli war crimes in Gaza.”

Illegal Israeli settlers set up caravan on Palestinian land in Masafir Yatta, a prelude for takeover

HEBRON, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 (WAFA) –

Illegal Israeli settlers set up this evening a mobile home on Palestinian land in the Al-Rakeez area, in Masafir Yatta to the south of Hebron, according to local sources.

Sources said that several colonists erected a caravan on land belonging to three families in the said area, a step that residents warned was a prelude to taking over more land for the expansion of the nearby illegal colony of Avigal.

Colonists attack the said village regularly; including chasing after Palestinian farmers and herders and the seizure of more land after forcing their owners out.
