January 6, 2024

Editor's Notes:

Here are some initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip:

By January 6, 2024, the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip is 29,722+.

This includes the accounted for deaths (22,722) and those who are still missing under the rubble (Corrected on December 23, 2023: 7,000+).

By January 6, 2024, the documented injuries exceeded 58,166, and more than 2,520 civilians have been abducted from Gaza Strip (80 mutilated corpses were returned on 12/27/23).

By January 4, 2023, the death toll included 9,730+ children and 6,830+ women.

By January 6 2024, there were 325 Palestinians who were killed, 3,558 who were injured, and 4,971, who were abducted by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, since October 7, 2023.

About 12,091 Palestinians, from both the West Bank and Gaza, have been detained in 2023. About half of them were detained after October 7. This included 1,085 children and 300 women.

The total number of detainees in the occupation prisons until the end of December was 8,800, and the number of administrative detainees was 3,291.

***

By December 27 2023,  there was a complete destruction of 65,000+ housing units, and a partial destruction of 290,000+ housing units (60% of Gaza housing units). This forced about 1.5 million people to become homeless, taking refuge in crowded UN schools and ultimately sleeping in the streets.

The Israeli refusal to allow international aid caravans to enter Gaza freely led the Palestinian population to be on the verge of mass extermination for the lack of food, water, medicine, and fuel.

By January 4, 2024, 326 health personnel and 97 journalists were killed and hundreds were injured, 121 ambulances were destroyed while on duty, killing and injuring their crews, and destroyed 150 health institutions. As a result of the strikes and lack of fuel, 30 hospitals and 53 primary care centers are not functioning. In addition, 99 health personnel have been abducted by the invading Israeli occupation forces.

Meanwhile, 126 government offices and 92 schools and universities were completely destroyed, while 285 schools and universities were partially damaged.

115 mosques were completely destroyed, while 200 others were partially damaged, in addition to three churches.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza, which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.

UNICEF warns of the “lethal trio” for children in Gaza: Increase in disease outbreaks, malnutrition, and the escalation of the Israeli genocidal war

Saturday 6-January-2024, GENEVA, (PIC)

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned on Friday that “children in Gaza face a deadly triple threat represented by the increase in disease outbreaks, malnutrition, and the escalation of Israeli aggression.”

UNICEF said that “thousands of children in Gaza have been killed, while the living conditions for other children deteriorate rapidly with the spread of cases of diarrhea and food poverty, increasing the risks of child mortality.”

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell pointed out that “children in Gaza are trapped in a worsening nightmare day after day.”

She emphasized that “children and their families in the region are being killed and injured in the aggression, and their lives are increasingly at risk due to preventable diseases, as well as the scarcity of food and water.”

She highlighted the “need to protect all children and civilians and provide them with essential services and supplies.”

Russell pointed out that “the agency is working to provide life-saving assistance to children in Gaza,” but she stressed the “urgent need to ensure better and safer access to aid in order to save children’s lives.”

She emphasized that “the future of thousands of children in Gaza is at stake, and the world cannot stand by and watch.”

Earlier, UNICEF had stated that “the increase in cases of diarrhea among children in the Gaza Strip is significant and is a strong indicator of the rapid deterioration of children’s health.”

Cases of diarrhea among children under the age of five in the Gaza Strip increased from 48,000 to 71,000 in one week, starting from December 17th, equivalent to 3,200 new cases of diarrhea per day.

Since October 7th, the Israeli occupation army has been continuing its aggression on the Gaza Strip with American and European support, as its warplanes and artillery bombard hospitals, buildings, towers, and the homes of Palestinian civilians, destroying them over the heads of their inhabitants, and preventing the entry of water, food, medicine, and fuel.

The ongoing Israeli aggression has led to massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, resulting in the death of 22,600 people and the injury of 57,910 others, mostly children and women.

Gaza children’s message in 2024: “We wish an end to the war”

Tuesday 2-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

“We wish to live as the rest of the children of the world, while remaining steadfast on our own land,” this was the message of a Gazan child to the world on the new year 2024.

With a deep feeling of pain and grief, but filled with strength and determination, a Gazan child sent this message to the entire world and specifically to international human rights organizations which have been calling, for centuries, for protecting the rights of children and women in the Arab and Muslim countries, but when it came to the children of Gaza who have been victims of the Israeli crimes, they turned blind.

The boy who uttered those words looked like a child but spoke like an old wise man due to what he has been through over the past few months in light of the ongoing Israeli brutal aggression, horror, bloody crimes, and massacres carried out against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

With his determination and strong words, pointing to a steadfast revolutionary soul, the child wished an end to the war and reaching a permanent ceasefire, simply saying, “We wish an end to the war. We want to feel joy.”

“They said Gaza has been devastated, and I say it will be reconstructed with our bare hands”, a Gazan young girl, said in a poem she wrote on Gaza on the new year occasion.

Another young girl, Zahwa, sent a message to the world expressing how much she is missing her father who was killed in Israeli airstrikes and how much she is missing getting his hugs, saying, “I miss hugging my father. They have taken him away from me. This war has taken so many beautiful things.”

“All of the children around the world go to schools and get education. Why don’t we go to schools? How would we grow up without education? We should go to school to learn and grow up and make achievements,” she added.

The children of Gaza welcomed the new year with more massacres carried out by the Israeli occupation forces. Many children were seen watching the funerals of their parents and families in deep grief and pain.

Over the past 87 days, the children of Gaza have been subjected to brutal aggression. Most of the martyrs who fell in the Israeli aggression on Gaza were children and women.

For almost three months of the aggression now, the children of Gaza have been denied the most basic human rights, such as food, medicine, clothing, and shelter.

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics confirmed that 98% of the martyrs registered in 2023 in Palestine were from the Gaza Strip, including about 9,730 children and 6,530 women.

US-backed Israeli genocidal war on Gaza enters Day 92

Saturday 6-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

As the US-backed Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip entered day 92 on Saturday, massive aerial and artillery strikes continued to pound and level whole blocks and homes and massacre more civilians, mostly children and women.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the Israeli occupation army continued to attack different areas of Gaza last night and on Saturday morning, killing and injuring dozens of citizens.

According to local sources, an unknown number of citizens were either killed or injured following an Israeli attack on a house in al-Zawayida town in central Gaza.

Israeli warplanes bombed neighborhoods multiple times around the European Hospital in the east of Khan Younus and one house in Khirbet Al-'Adas in Rafa'h, south of Gaza. No casualties have been reported.

Last night, 18 civilians were martyred during an aerial attack on a house in Al-Manara neighborhood in Khan Younus.

A number of airstrikes were also carried out on different areas of Rafa'h in southern Gaza, but there was no information about casualties.

(by January 5, 2024), Death toll surges to 22,600 amid ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza

RAMALLAH, Saturday, January 6, 2024 (WAFA) –

The Ministry of Health announced today a surge in the death toll in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7, reaching a staggering 22,600. Shockingly, it said, approximately 70% of the casualties are women and children (by January 5, 2024).

Among the deceased, said the ministry in a report, 9,730 are children and 6,530 are women. Additionally, around 57,910 individuals have been reported injured, with a significant proportion being children.

The report highlights the challenges faced by rescue efforts, indicating that 7,000 people are still missing under the rubble, and most likely are thought dead. Obtaining accurate numbers remains difficult due to the relentless Israeli attacks and insufficient rescue missions.

Compounding the crisis, the United Nations and humanitarian partners are encountering difficulties in delivering vital assistance to the northern areas of the Gaza Strip for the third consecutive day, it added. Delays and aggressive Israeli airstrikes in the region contribute to the hindrance of humanitarian aid efforts.

The Ministry emphasized that the amount of aid reaching Gaza is significantly inadequate, with roads destroyed, convoys fired on, and medical facilities relentlessly being attacked. Medical facilities are grappling with severe shortages across all supplies, leaving desperate individuals in search of safety.

The ministry stressed that Gaza continues to endure power outages after Israeli occupation forces cut off electricity supplies, coupled by the run-out of fuel reserves necessary to operate the sole power plant in Gaza.

"Communication breakdowns and fuel shortages continue to impede the aid community's efforts to assess the full extent of needs in Gaza and respond appropriately to the escalating humanitarian crisis," the report pointed out.

GAZA, Saturday, January 6, 2024 (WAFA) –

Dozens of innocent civilians were killed while other wounded, as the continuous Israeli genocide camping from air, land and sea against Gaza strip enters its 92nd consecutive day.

Israeli air force carried out intense airstrikes targeting a house in the town of Al-Zawayida in middle of the Gaza Strip, resulting in multiple casualties.

Ambulance and rescue teams were unable to reach the casualties and dead bodies due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

In Khan Youinus, at least two citizens were killed and dozens of others wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting Asdaa area, west of the city.

Israeli snipers took over the rooftops of several buildings in central of Gaza strip and proceeded to open live ammunition towards citizens trying to seek refugee or fleeing the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

The number of Palestinians killed as a result of the non-stop Israeli airstrikes against Gaza strip has risen to nearly 22,600, including at least 9,730 children and 6,530 women, in addition to around 7,000 who are still missing and more than 57,910 wounded.
