Editor's Notes:

Here are some initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip:

By January 18, 2024, the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip is 32,620+.

This includes the accounted for deaths (24,620) and those who are still missing under the rubble (Corrected on December 23, 2023: 8,000+).

By January 18, 2024, the documented injuries exceeded 61,830, and more than 2,520 civilians have been abducted from Gaza Strip.

By January 17, 2024, about 661 detainees from Gaza are currently languishing in Israeli prisons as illegitimate combatants(the Israeli term for Palestinian fighters) in addition to more than 50 Gazan women detained in Damon prison, noting that 8 women of whom have been recently released.

By January 4, 2023, the death toll included 9,730+ children and 6,830+ women (more than 70% of the victims).

By January 18, 2024, there were 356 Palestinians who were killed, 3,619 who were injured, and 6,025, who were abducted by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, since October 7, 2023 (Some of the today's reported detained 5,903 have been released).

About 12,091 Palestinians, from both the West Bank and Gaza, have been detained in 2023. About half of them were detained after October 7. This included 1,085 children and 300 women.

The total number of detainees in the occupation prisons until the end of December was 8,800, and the number of administrative detainees was 3,291.

By January 9, 2023,  there was a complete destruction of 69,000+ housing units, and a partial destruction of 290,000+ housing units (60% of Gaza housing units). This forced about 1.5 million people to become homeless, taking refuge in crowded UN schools and ultimately sleeping in the streets.

The Israeli refusal to allow international aid caravans to enter Gaza freely led the Palestinian population to be on the verge of mass extermination for the lack of food, water, medicine, and fuel.

By January 9, 2024, 326 health personnel and 97 journalists were killed and hundreds were injured, 121 ambulances were destroyed while on duty, killing and injuring their crews, and destroyed 150 health institutions. As a result of the strikes and lack of fuel, 30 hospitals and 53 primary care centers are not functioning. In addition, 99 health personnel have been abducted by the invading Israeli occupation forces.

Meanwhile, 134 government offices and 95 schools and universities were completely destroyed, while 295 schools and universities were partially damaged.

138 mosques were completely destroyed, while 240 others were partially damaged, in addition to three churches.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza, which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.

EU lawmakers call for permanent ceasefire in Gaza

BRUSSELS, Thursday, January 18, 2024 (WAFA) –

The European Parliament voted today in favor of a resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and urged expedited delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged region.

The parliamentary resolution, which also emphasizes the need to restart efforts towards a political solution to address the longstanding conflict, was endorsed by a majority of 312 votes, with 131 against and 72 abstentions.

The resolution reflects growing concerns over racist Israeli policies leading to the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. The resolution also raises alarms about the repercussions of Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank.

Expressing solidarity with the International Court of Justice in its pursuit of holding Israel to account for committing genocide in Gaza, the resolution underscores the importance of introducing a new European initiative aimed at reviving the political process in the Palestine.

The resolution further calls for expediting the delivery of desperately needed aid to the Gaza Strip, where nearly two million Palestinians have been displaced as a result of the ongoing Israeli war of genocide for over 104 days.

The Israeli occupation army blows up Al-Isra University in Gaza, after 70 days of using it as Israeli military barracks

Thursday 18-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) blew up the building of Al-Isra University in Gaza after 70 days of occupying it and converting it into a military barracks and a detention center.

The university administration said in a statement on Thursday, “The IOF occupied the university building for seventy days, turning it into a military base and a center for sniping isolated civilians in the areas of Al-Rasheed Street, Al-Mughraqa, and Al-Zahra, as well as a temporary detention center for interrogating Palestinians, before detonating it.”

Israeli media outlets published a video documenting the moment the occupation forces detonated the main headquarters of Al-Isra University in the city of Al-Zahra, south of Gaza City, yesterday.

The university administration condemned, “The barbaric aggression that targeted the capabilities of students of knowledge, the latest of which was the destruction of the building of graduate studies and the main bachelor’s colleges in the south of Gaza City.”

It said, “The aggression was not limited to the main building only, but also affected the national museum, which Al-Isra University has always been proud to establish as a national museum licensed by the Ministry of Antiquities, the first of its kind in the country, containing more than three thousand rare artifacts.”

The statement pointed out that the IOF soldiers and officers looted the rare artifacts before demolishing the museum building to cover up the traces of their crime.

It pointed out that the IOF destroyed the buildings of the first and only university hospital in the Gaza Strip and the second in Palestine, as well as the medical and engineering laboratories, nursing laboratories, media training studio, the special court hall of the Faculty of Law, and the graduation halls, after looting their valuable contents that students have always used in various faculties to enrich their scientific research and carry out their activities.

It continued, “The cafeteria building did not escape the aggression, as it was leveled to the ground from the first day, and the Israeli aircraft targeted the main university mosque inside the southern campus and destroyed it.”

The IOF also targeted the university’s other headquarters, including the headquarters of intermediate studies “Diploma” located north of the Gaza Strip and the headquarters of vocational training located in the Al-Rimal neighborhood, which recently turned into two centers for displaced persons.

The university administration, whose capabilities were destroyed, buildings were demolished, and material and cash funds were looted, stated that this was not its main loss. Rather, a group of its students, professors, and employees have “ascended as martyrs on the path of liberating the homeland and achieved the highest ranks of honor with their martyrdom.”

It clarified that the targeting of educational institutions in the Gaza Strip during the current aggression comes within an old and systematic context that has never stopped since the beginning of this conflict. It pointed out that Israel has “tried to generalize a culture of ignorance and exclude the Palestinian people from keeping up with the march of knowledge and civilization, killing scientists and expelling minds and pillars of society outside Palestine.”

The Government Media Office in Gaza said that during the 100 days of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, the IOF destroyed 95 schools and universities completely and 295 schools and universities partially.

Palestinian killed, child injured during IOF rampage in Tulkarm

Thursday 18-January-2024, TULKARM, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed on Thursday a Palestinian young man, critically wounded a child and destroyed homes and roads, amid assaults on citizens, in Tulkarm and its refugee camps.

The Red Crescent said that one of its ambulance crews evacuated a 27-year-old martyr from Tulkarm to a hospital after he suffered a lethal injury.

The IOF already killed five young men during its campaign in Tulkarm, which started yesterday.

A 12-year-old child also suffered a critical bullet injury in his back after an Israeli sniper, who was on a rooftop in al-Maslakh neighborhood in Tulkarm’s Nur Shams refugee camp, opened fire at him.

Local sources also said that the IOF detonated a house belonging to a citizen called Omar Amara in Tulkarm refugee camp after forcing his family to leave it, adding that the house was completely destroyed and nearby homes sustained different levels of damage.

IOF bulldozers also destroyed roads, infrastructure and one house in Nur Shams camp, amid clashes with angry local youths and sounds of successive explosions.

The Israeli forces, which spread in large numbers in Tulkarm and its refugee camps, ransacked several homes, brutalized and maltreated members of families and used some houses as detention and interrogation outposts.

IOF also rampaged through businesses and public facilities, including a mosque, damaged cars and raided a house in 'Ukasha neighborhood in Tulkarm camp before burning it.

Hundreds of citizens, including children and minors, were kidnaped and herded into houses used as interrogation centers in Tulkarm.

A number of citizens, who were released later, said that Israeli soldiers detained and interrogated them for long hours, during which they were threatened, cursed and assaulted, before they were taken to remote places, particularly military checkpoints, and ordered to walk away from there.

Many citizens were also provided with medical assistance at the Thabit Thabit Hospital in Tulkarm after they were severely beaten by Israeli soldiers during raids on homes or as they were being interrogated.

Others had to go to mosques or a headquarters belonging to the Palestinian Authority in the area to stay there after their release because the IOF prevented them from returning to Tulkarm before its withdrawal from the area.

Citizens reported seeing Israeli army drones overflying Tulkarm City and its refugee camps during the ongoing campaign.
