January 12, 2024

Editor's Notes:

Here are some initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip:

By January 12, 2024, the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip is 30,708+.

This includes the accounted for deaths (23,708) and those who are still missing under the rubble (Corrected on December 23, 2023: 7,000+).

By January 12, 2024, the documented injuries exceeded 59,852, and more than 2,520 civilians have been abducted from Gaza Strip.

By January 4, 2023, the death toll included 9,730+ children and 6,830+ women.

By January 12, 2024, there were 345 Palestinians who were killed, 3,597 who were injured, and 5,798, who were abducted by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, since October 7, 2023.

About 12,091 Palestinians, from both the West Bank and Gaza, have been detained in 2023. About half of them were detained after October 7. This included 1,085 children and 300 women.

The total number of detainees in the occupation prisons until the end of December was 8,800, and the number of administrative detainees was 3,291.

By January 9, 2023,  there was a complete destruction of 69,000+ housing units, and a partial destruction of 290,000+ housing units (60% of Gaza housing units). This forced about 1.5 million people to become homeless, taking refuge in crowded UN schools and ultimately sleeping in the streets.

The Israeli refusal to allow international aid caravans to enter Gaza freely led the Palestinian population to be on the verge of mass extermination for the lack of food, water, medicine, and fuel.

By January 9, 2024, 326 health personnel and 97 journalists were killed and hundreds were injured, 121 ambulances were destroyed while on duty, killing and injuring their crews, and destroyed 150 health institutions. As a result of the strikes and lack of fuel, 30 hospitals and 53 primary care centers are not functioning. In addition, 99 health personnel have been abducted by the invading Israeli occupation forces.

Meanwhile, 134 government offices and 95 schools and universities were completely destroyed, while 295 schools and universities were partially damaged.

138 mosques were completely destroyed, while 240 others were partially damaged, in addition to three churches.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza, which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.

ICJ concludes two days of public hearings on South Africa's genocide case against Israel

THE HAGUE, Friday, January 12, 2024 (WAFA) -

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) said it concluded the two-day public hearing of South Africa's case, which accused Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

ICJ said it will begin deliberations and will issue its decision in a public session, the date of which will be announced in due course.

South Africa filed an 84-page application to the court in December, in which it accused Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

The two-day hearing, which began on Thursday, dealt exclusively with South Africa's request for urgent action to compel Israel to suspend its military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Red Crescent loses all contacts with its crews in Gaza following complete interruption of communications

GAZA, Friday, January 12, 2024 (WAFA) -

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced tonight that it has lost all contact with its crews in the Gaza Strip following the complete interruption of all communications and internet services as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression.

PRCS said in a statement that the loss of contacts increases the challenges faced by its crews in delivering services and reaching the wounded with the required speed.

PRCS added that its crews, in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), evacuated about 28 wounded citizens and their escorts from both Al-Shifa and Kamal 'Udwan Hospitals and its medical post in the Jabalya area, north of the Strip.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society noted that five of its ambulances were involved in transporting the wounded to hospitals in the southern sector.

It noted that six of its crew members in the Gaza Strip are still detained by the occupation.

State of Palestine welcomes, praises unprecedented South Africa's genocide case against Israel before ICJ

RAMALLAH, Friday, January 12, 2024 (WAFA) -

The State of Palestine welcomed and praised the unprecedented legal case brought by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as part of its efforts to prosecute Israel, the occupying power, for its atrocious and extensive violations of the Genocide Convention, an international treaty that criminalizes genocide and obligates state parties to pursue the enforcement of its prohibition.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement released today that South Africa's case highlighted the compelling evidence that Israel is deliberately violating its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

The ministry said that Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip and has failed to take the necessary preventive measures to prevent such crimes from taking place by adopting policies that would bring about genocide and permitting incitement speech that calls for inflicting more harm on Palestinians.

The ministry stressed that such crimes are an indication of the imperative need to put an end to these heinous practices and to provide the Palestinian people with protection out of respect for human life.

The case presented at the International Court of Justice is a legal matter and not a political one, which obligates the Court to take the law as its reference for reaching a legal decision on this defining issue and avoid falling into the ambushes of hatred, racism, bias and double standards, said the statement.

The ministry affirmed that the Palestinian people will remain indebted to the South African government and its brave people for standing in the face of injustice inflicted upon the Palestinian people and for standing for humanity at a time when the Palestinians are subjected to the most challenging period in their decades-long suffering.

The ministry stressed that in light of the international community’s failure to uphold its responsibilities to achieve peace and security, the international system should be indebted to South Africa for taking this responsibility rather than just standing by watching while the principles and norms of international law are being violated for political expediency and at the expense of human life and the existence of an entire nation.

GMO: Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, stealing martyrs' organs

Friday 12-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

The Government Media Office (GMO) said that Israel has repeatedly committed crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing against civilians in the Gaza Strip, noting that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stole the bodies of martyrs and returned them back mutilated and unidentifiable, so that they can cover up the crime.

The GMO explained, in a statement on Thursday, that the IOF has committed field executions against dozens of Palestinian civilians during the genocidal war it has been waging in the Gaza Strip. The IOF shot and killed dozens of civilians before burying them in mass graves using bulldozers such as what happened east of Al-Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City.

The bodies of 80 martyrs, who had been killed by the IOF weeks ago, were handed to their families for burial in Rafah Governorate after organs of their bodies were stolen, the statement highlighted.

The IOF refused to specify the execution locations to cover up its heinous crime, as the bodies of martyrs arrived badly mutilated, in a clear indication that the IOF had stolen vital organs of them.

The GMO stressed that the IOF has killed thousands of civilians deliberately, intentionally and without distinguishing civilians from fighters.

The Office concluded its statement by calling on all international courts to prosecute Israel, its army and political, military, and security leaders for committing these heinous crimes, praising the great legal efforts being exerted by South Africa which has accused Israel before the International Court of Justice of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

UN warns of dire humanitarian situation in northern Gaza

Friday 12-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

A UN spokesperson highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, emphasizing significant obstacles to relief efforts.

At the regular press briefing, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said, “Between Jan. 1 and 10, only three out of the 21 planned aid deliveries of food, medicine, water, and other life-saving supplies to the north of Wadi Gaza were able to proceed.”

He highlighted the critical role these supplies play, including “medical supplies to Gaza City and fuel to water and sanitation facilities in Gaza City and the north,” which were “denied by the Israeli authorities.”

Dujarric compared the current situation to previous months, revealing a significant decline in aid access.

“The rate of access seen in January so far presents a significant deterioration when compared to the rate of access in December of last year,” he said, noting the drop from over 70% in December to about 14% in early January.

Highlighting the human cost of these constraints, Dujarric said, “Every day that we are unable to provide assistance results in the loss of lives and suffering for hundreds of thousands of people who remain in northern Gaza.”

Adding to the urgency, UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths painted a grim picture of the health sector in Gaza in a social media post. “The health sector in Gaza is being slowly choked off as hospitals continue to come under fire,” he said.

On the dire consequences, he said, “Pregnant mothers can’t deliver their babies safely. Children can’t get vaccines. The sick and wounded can’t get treatment. People die.”

He reminded all parties that “the rules of war are clear, and that parties must protect civilians, including, of course, humanitarian workers.”

Palestinian Health Ministry: 23,708 martyrs as a result of the Israeli aggression on Gaza

Friday 12-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) carried out 13 massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip, leaving 239 martyrs and 248 injured in the past 24 hours.

In a press statement, the spokesman for the Health Ministry Ashraf Al-Qudra said, “on the 98th day of the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, bodies of martyrs are still under the debris and others are scattered on the roads as ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.”

Al-Qidra pointed out that the death toll of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip climbed to 23,708 martyrs in addition to 59,852 wounded since October 7. About 70% of the victims were children and women, he highlighted.

He stressed that the IOF has been deliberately destroying neighborhoods, infrastructure, civilian and health facilities, and committing crimes of genocide and mass executions in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Qidra stated that the Israeli attacks on the health system has led to the martyrdom of 337 medical staff including specialist doctors and the arrest of 99 health personnel under harsh and inhumane conditions.

The IOF has targeted 150 health institutions, knocking 30 hospitals and 53 health centers out of service in addition to targeting and destroying 121 ambulances.

The Health Ministry spokesman stressed the urgent need to transfer 6,200 injured people to receive treatment abroad, noting that 10,000 cancer patients are at the risk of death as the Turkish Friendship Hospital, the only one in the Strip specialized in treating cancer patients, has been knocked out of service.

He affirmed that the health situation in southern Gaza Strip hospitals is catastrophic and indescribable as a result of the massive overcrowding in hospitals because of the large number of the wounded among tens of thousands of displaced people, noting that bed occupancy rate in all hospitals exceeds 340% in different departments and intensive care units.

The number of the wounded exceeds 4 times the clinical capacity of hospitals, with the wounded sleeping on hospital’s floors and corridors, he said.

Al-Qidra underlined that the overcrowding of the displaced people in shelter centers in cold weather has aggravated the spread of respiratory, skin, and other infectious diseases, posing a deadly danger to more than 1.9 million displaced people.

The spokesman called on international institutions to take decisive and urgent measures to prevent the disaster. He also urged international institutions to find effective mechanisms that would meet the needs of northern Gaza hospitals, especially medicines and fuel supplies so that they can operate sustainably.

Developments on day 98 of Israeli genocide in Gaza

Friday 12-January-2024, GAZA, (PIC)

Israeli occupation forces continue to commit the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip for the 98th consecutive day Friday. They have carried out dozens of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and firebombing, resulting in bloody massacres against civilians. They have also committed horrific crimes in incursion axes, amidst a catastrophic humanitarian situation caused by the siege and the displacement of over 90% of the population.

Our correspondents reported that the Israeli aircraft and artillery continued their intense bombardment of various areas of the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, targeting homes, gatherings, facilities, and streets, resulting in hundreds of martyrs and casualties.

At least 5 martyrs were killed as a result of the Israeli shelling of a house in the Al-Masha'ila neighborhood west of Dair El-Bala'h in the central Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation forces shelled the southern and western neighborhoods of Khan Younus with artillery fire.

Israeli artillery shelling continues on the Al-Buraij and Al-Maghazi refugee camps and the town of Al-Zawayida amidst fierce clashes.

The municipality of Gaza warned of the danger of flooding the rainwater reservoir in Shaikh Radhwan in northern Gaza due to continued rainfall and the water level reaching a critical point.

International institutions were called upon to urgently intervene and provide the necessary fuel to operate water pumps.

The heavy rains and cold weather have exacerbated the suffering of hundreds of thousands of displaced people and caused their tents to be flooded.

The displaced people living in shelters in northern Gaza are facing catastrophic conditions due to the ongoing Israeli siege and the prevention of fuel supplies to municipalities, leading to disrupting their services.

Last night, medical sources reported that 30 martyrs arrived at Khan Younus hospitals in the past 24 hours as a result of continuous Israeli shelling in various parts of the province. The Israeli warplanes carried out intense airstrikes in central Khan Younus and targeted ambulance and rescue crews while they were working on transporting the wounded and retrieving the martyrs.

Last night, 9 civilians were martyred and others were injured in an Israeli shelling that targeted a house in the Al-Shawka area, east of Rafah city in southern Gaza.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its crews transferred 9 martyrs following the Israeli targeting of the Abu Sunaima family’s house on the Airport Street in Rafa'h.

In a preliminary toll, the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7th has resulted in the martyrdom of 23,708 civilians, mostly women and children, and the injury of approximately 59,852. Thousands of people are still under the rubble.

Three Palestinians killed in clashes near the Israeli Illegal settlement of Adora

Friday 12-January-2024, AL-KHALIL, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed three Palestinian men who allegedly infiltrated an illegal Israeli settlement, built illegally on Palestinian lands, and fired upon soldiers on Friday.

Israeli media sources claimed that the IOF exchanged fire with three Palestinians who infiltrated the illegal Israeli settlement of Adora in the southern West Bank.

Three Palestinians were killed during clashes, while an Israeli soldier was injured, according to the sources.

The attack came as tension escalated in the occupied West Bank, nearly 100 days into Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says Israeli forces have killed 344 Palestinians in the West Bank since Oct. 7.

IOF withdraws from Nour Shams refugee camp, leaving extensive damage

Friday 12-January-2024, TULKAREM, (PIC)

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have left extensive damage to the infrastructure in Nour Shams refugee camp in the northern West Bank province of Tulkarm, following a 7-hour raid which concluded on Friday morning.

The Israeli military incursion caused significant destruction to the infrastructure, as IOF bulldozers leveled and sabotaged the streets and alleys of the camp.

Earlier last night, the IOF, accompanied by bulldozers, raided Tulkarm City and Nour Shams camp and besieged the area until the early hours of Friday morning.

The PIC correspondent reported that Israeli bulldozers deliberately closed many entrances to neighborhoods and homes in the camp, using earth and asphalt barriers, besieging residents inside their homes.

Eyewitnesses affirmed that the IOF imposed a tight siege on the camp from all directions, while sniper units were deployed on rooftops of buildings surrounding the camp, amid intensified flying of drones. They noted that electricity and telecom networks services were disrupted in the camp during the raid.

Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, and Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, announced that their resistance fighters have confronted the IOF raids on Tulkarm City and Nour Shams camp and that fierce clashes erupted as a result.

This was the second IOF incursion into Tulkarm in less than 72 hours, following a previous Israeli one carried out on January 9.
