While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (October 7, 2023-Fruary 26, 2024), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.

'Hamas responds to mediators, Stresses commitment to Palestinian people demands

Sunday 14-April-2024

GAZA, (PIC)

The Islamic Resistance Movement, 'Hamas, said on Saturday evening that it has just submitted its response to the Egyptian and Qatari mediators regarding the proposal it received last Monday regarding ceasefire talks in Gaza.

In a press statement, the Movement reiterated its commitment to its demands and “the demands of our people.”

It emphasized that these demands include a permanent cessation of fire, the withdrawal of the occupation army from the entire Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced to their areas and places of residence, and the intensification of relief aid and reconstruction.

The Movement also indicated its readiness to conclude a serious and genuine prisoner exchange deal between the two sides.

Earlier in the day, Al Jazeera website quoted informed sources as saying that the recent Israeli offer did not bring anything new regarding the return of the displaced to their places of residence in the northern Gaza Strip. It still insists on their return under Israeli military and security control and within predetermined numbers, which does not meet the unconditional return demand put forward by Hamas.

The proposal does not meet the demand for the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Salahuddeen and Al-Rasheed axes, nor does it include a commitment to withdraw forces from the Strip in the second stage according to the understandings reached in Paris.

Netanyahu’s government still presents a limited equation for the prisoner exchange and insists on releasing only 100 prisoners with high sentences, which it chooses from those selected by 'Hamas, in exchange for 4 to 5 female soldiers held by the resistance. Meanwhile, 'Hamas demands an equation of 1 to 50, leading to the release of 250 prisoners in this category as determined by the Movement in advance.

Mission: Iran committed to UN Charter principles

April 14, 2024

Tehran, IRNA -

Iran is committed to the purposes and principles enshrined in the UN Charter and International law, Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) said in an X message.

"In exercising its inherent right of #SelfDefense under Article 51 of the #UNCharter, and in response to the Israeli regime recurring military aggressions, particularly its armed attack on 1st April 2024 against Iranian diplomatic premises, in defiance of Article 2 (4) of the #UNCharter and in flagrant violation of Int'l Law, and subsequent to the failure of the #UNSC in taking measures necessary to condemn and hold the aggressor accountable, #Iran carried out a series of military strikes on Israeli military objectives," Iran's Permanent UNoG Mission wrote on its official X account on Sunday.

"As a responsible Member of the @UN, Iran is committed to the purposes and principles enshrined in the #UNCharter and Int'l law, and reiterates its consistent position that it does not seek escalation or conflict in the region," it added.

"While warning against any further military provocations, Iran reaffirms its unwavering determination to defend its people, national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity against any threat or act of aggression. Iran will not hesitate to exercise its inherent right of #SelfDefense when required under Int'l Law," it noted.

Flying Iranian missiles over Knesset ‘big victory’ for Iran: Zionist researcher

April 14, 2024

Tehran, IRNA –

Iran has achieved a big victory by flying missiles and drones in the skies over key Israeli facilities including the Knesset. This is according to an Israeli researcher making comments on the Iranian military action against the regime over its recent strike on Iran’s consulate in Syria.

Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones at the Israeli-occupied territories late on Saturday to punish the regime for its strike that killed seven Iranian military advisors including a senior Islamic Revolution Guards Corps commander in Damascus on April 1.

Beni Sabti, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies think-tank, believes that the Saturday night attack marked a big victory for Iran as the country managed to penetrate Israeli airspace, with its missiles and drones flying over the city of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque as well as the Israeli parliament (the Knesset)

“We are not in conflict now. It seems that we are in an equal situation. But the reality is different. The victory and success of Iran is greater”, he told Kan, the Israeli regime’s public broadcasting corporation.

Report: 150 missiles fired at the Israeli-occupied territories

April 14, 2024

Tehran, IRNA –

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday morning that some 150 missiles have been fired at the Israeli-occupied territories.

The report came after Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched an extensive retaliatory missile and drone operation against the Zionist regime in response to its attack on the Iranian mission in Syria early this month.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Army Radio also reported that sirens sounded 720 times in different parts of occupied Palestine in response to the first wave of Iranian attacks.

The New York Times said that Iran has fired more than 300 drones and missiles toward the occupied territories.

Iran attacks on Israel inflict major damage on regime: Reports

April 14, 2024

Tehran, IRNA –

The Israeli regime suffered some $100 million worth of damage only in the early hours of Iranian missile and drone attacks on Sunday, according to reports from media outlets in the Israeli-occupied territories.

The reports cited by the Lebanon-based al-Mayadeen TV channel on Sunday said that the damage on Israel had been inflicted mostly on the regime’s missile defense systems as they were trying to intercept drones and missiles fired from Iran.

Israel’s Channel 14 said that several missiles had hit Arad, located 45 kilometers from Be'er Sheva, in the south of the occupied territories, injuring several people.

Several missiles also hit the Umm al-Fahm city in the north of the occupied territories, causing rescue workers and medics to rush to the scene.

Several other missiles hit the Negev desert in south of the Israeli-occupied lands.

Iran’s elite IRGC military forces said in a statement in the early hours of Sunday that it had fired dozens of missiles and drones at areas controlled by the Israeli regime.

The attacks were carried out to respond to Israel’s numerous crimes against the Iranian nation, including an airstrike earlier this month on an Iranian consulate in Syria which killed two senior IRGC commanders.

Operation against Israel more successful than expected: IRGC chief

April 14, 2024

Tehran, IRNA –

Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the operation carried out by the force against the Israeli regime was more successful than expected.

Major General Hossein Salami said on Sunday that the IRGC had received reports showing that part of the weapons fired by the force toward the Israeli-occupied territories had directly hit their targets.

“Our information on all of the hits is not complete yet but on that part of the hits that we have accurate, documented and field-related reports show that this operation has been carried out with a success that exceeded the expectation,” said Salami.

He said that the IRGC was capable of carrying out a large operation against Israel but it opted for a more restricted and limited one to hit Israeli resources that had been used for an airstrike on an Iranian consulate in Syria earlier this month which killed senior Iranian military commanders.

The IRGC commander advised the Israeli regime to regret its past actions and take a lesson from Iran’s attacks, adding that any reaction from Israel to Iran’s recent attacks would be met with a much stronger response.

Salami said Iran has entered a new phase in its confrontation with Israel, adding that the country will respond from its own soil to any attack by Israel on Iranian interests, assets, notable people and citizens in any part of the world.

The IRGC commander said that the battle was somewhat unknown and ambiguous, adding that it opened up a new chapter of confrontation to Iran.

The enemy's air and missile defense systems, including anti-ballistic and cruise missile defenses, and air defenses that are anti-drone or anti-manned aircraft were deployed in abundance in the small piece of land of the Zionist regime, ranging from the Iron Dome air defense system that deals with short-range projectiles to David's Sling system and Arrow system and even the contributions by the US to the Israeli regime in recent days in the field of air defense, he said.

With the support of the United States, a multi-layered defense of the Zionist regime had been formed from Iraqi airspace to Jordan and even parts of Syria and occupied Palestine, he added.

Various aircraft, including the F-15, F-16 and F-35, which are highly advanced, Gulfstream aircraft, and refuelers that helped the enemy warbirds’ continuous flight, had created a dense and multilayered air defense from the moment the birds entered Iraqi airspace to mid-Jordan, Salami noted.

The regime itself protected from the western Jordan to objectives in the depth of the occupied Palestine, he further noted.

Also, the anti-aircraft and missile defense accompanied by the most advanced systems was in front of us, and it was difficult to pass through this very complex, multi-layered, and advanced system, he said.

It was very complicated to pass the space and hit them on the ground exactly with extremely high precision, Salami added.

Moreover, the integrated capabilities of the United States and the Zionist regime in the field of electronic warfare could have decisive effects on the tools used on the battlefield, he noted.

Therefore, this operation required ingenuity in tactical design, with innovative and smart designs, unknown to the enemy and the use of tools capable of neutralizing the enemy in the field of electronic warfare or acting in a way that makes the enemy's systems ineffective, he stated.

The order and sequence of this operation were carried out in a way that cannot be said now, as dozens of cruise and ballistic missiles were able to break through the deep layers of the seemingly reassuring air defense of the Zionists and the coalition between the United States and France and to influence the Zionist regime, Salami said.

'Hamas: Iran’s operation against Israel a “natural right” and a “justified response”

Sunday 14-April-2024

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement has described the military counterattack that was carried out last night by Iran against the Israeli occupation state as a “natural right” and a “justified response to the crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus and assassinating a number of Revolutionary Guard leaders.”

In a statement on Sunday, 'Hamas said that every country and nation has the right to defend itself against Israeli attacks.

'Hamas urged the Arab and Muslim peoples, the world’s free people, and the region’s resistance groups to continue their support for Al-Aqsa Flood resistance battle and the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, independence and the establishment of their Palestinian state with Al-Quds (occupied Jerusalem) as its capital.

Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles against Israel on Saturday night, in an unprecedented counterattack that came in response to an Israeli deadly raid on the Iranian consulate in Syria two weeks ago.

The Israeli occupation army said on Sunday the Iranian salvo consisted of more than 300 “killer drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles,” but that 99 percent were intercepted with help from France, Britain and the US.

The Israeli occupation army claimed the launches came from Iran, Iraq and Yemen, and set off air raid sirens in cities across Israel, including Tel Aviv.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the attack, saying it launched the drones and missiles under operation “True Promise” as part of the punishment for “the Zionist entity’s crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Syria” on April 1.

The Israeli raid on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus killed 13 people, including two senior generals in the IRGC’s elite Quds Force.

Palestinians in Gaza still clinging to the land and steadfast despite genocide

Sunday 14-April-2024

GAZA, (PIC)

“Stones [houses] are not more valuable than people. They demolished the stones, but will not destroy the will, and will not take out the love of the land, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa from our hearts”, Haj Salman 'Hasan said these words full of determination and firmness, while looking at the remains of his house demolished by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) west of Khan Younus city in the Gaza Strip.

Despite the severe pain, Haj 'Hasan, who is seventy years old, has not lost his determination and steadfastness; rather, he was pushing himself to pick up whatever he could carry of the remains of his possessions from under the rubble. Dripping with sweat, he shouted out “May Allah destroy them. They have destroyed our lives.”

Close to him was his grandson, the young child Salman, 12, staring at the place, as if he was recalling in his fresh memory the features of the area that was entirely destroyed by the IOF. He was helping his grandfather once in a while.

The child Salman told the PIC that the IOFs destroyed the house along with his toys, bicycle, books, and “all of his dreams.”

“We will never feel weak in the face of this oppression. We are not afraid of them. They have weapons, planes, and the US, and we have the Almighty Allah with us,” the child said.

The massive destruction reveals how the neighborhood in Block C camp, west of Khan Younus, was turned into rubble.

Despite all the destruction and losses, the Palestinians have historically been showing adherence to their land for more than 100 years.

The Palestinian history is full of stories of Palestinians clinging to the land and presenting precious and valuable sacrifices for the sake of preserving it, which is something cannot be hidden by the media.

'Alaa Al-Khateeb, 33, lost his entire family, his wife and two children, two months ago in a heinous Israeli genocidal airstrike on the city of Dair El-Bala'h. His house was also destroyed at the beginning of the Israeli aggression.

He told the PIC, “They will never take out the love of and adherence to the land from our hearts. We love life; however, we are not afraid of death.”

The IOFs aims to make Palestinians think a thousand times before resisting the occupation. However, despite the precious price being paid, the Palestinians will remain the owners of the land, and the occupation will disappear, he added, stressing that despite the huge number of martyrs and the massive destruction, the Palestinians will prevail in the end.

Another picture of resilience

Despite the harsh living conditions under the Israeli war, examples of the Palestinian legendary steadfastness are clearly demonstrated in the displacement camps and among the piles of rubble spread across the Gaza Strip.

Among these images are women working together in making bread and preparing meals in tents and displacement centers, setting up some modest games, and holding entertainment days for children by local institutions and initiatives.

The steadfastness is also embodied in initiatives undertaken by some young people to provide relief to those in need to strengthen the steadfastness of citizens in light of the catastrophic conditions.

The young man, Mu'hammad Al-Najjar, told the PIC correspondent that they were working on a hospice to provide food in the displacement centers in Mawasi area in Khan Younus, south of the Gaza Strip.

He explained that “the most important goal of the hospice was to strengthen the people’s steadfastness in light of terrible poverty and the lack of life’s necessities,” stressing that their initiative is purely voluntary and based on the personal efforts of some young people.

The IOFs failed to achieve its goals

Political analyst A'hmed 'Awadh confirms that the Israeli occupation apartheid regime has failed miserably during the six months of war to achieve any of its declared military goals, and deliberately committed crimes of murder and systematic destruction in the Gaza Strip.

'Awadh said, in press statements, “The Israeli occupation intended to transform the Gaza Strip into an unlivable place by destroying 70% of the infrastructure, homes, universities, schools, vital places, and all the necessities of life.”

He opines that over the six months of war, the resistance has destroyed “the myth of the invincible army,” and proved that “Israel is too weak to protect itself and its army, despite the US and Western support.”

The Israeli genocidal war on Gaza has so far led to the martyrdom of more than 33,000 people, most of them women and children, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure, service and health facilities, and the displacement and starvation of the population.

New York Police clash with Pro-Gaza protesters

Saturday 13-April-2024

NEW YORK, (PIC)

Thousands of protesters took to the streets on Friday in the Manhattan borough of New York City to protest the bloody Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, resulting, later on the day, in many arrests.

Eyewitnesses reported that the police clashed with demonstrators who demanded an end to the Israeli war on Gaza and an end to the US aid to the Israeli occupation apartheid regime.

The protestors raised banners dubbing US President Joe Biden as a criminal and branding him “Genocide Joe”.

Despite the escalation of pro-Gaza protests in New York and most American cities, the top media outlets in the city, including New York Times and Wall Street Journal, tried to cover up the event in a striking manner.

43 Palestinians killed in 4 Israeli massacres in Gaza in last 24 hours

GAZA, Sunday, April 14, 2024 (WAFA) –

Israeli occupation forces committed four massacres against families in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours, resulting in the documented killing of at least 43 Palestinians and the injury of 62 others, according to medical sources.

Local health authorities confirmed that the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli onslaught since October 7 has risen to 33,729 reported fatalities, with an additional 76,371 individuals sustaining injuries. The majority of the victims are women and children.

Meanwhile, ambulance and rescue teams are still unable to reach many casualties and dead bodies trapped under the rubble or scattered on roads across the war-torn enclave, as Israeli occupation forces continue to obstruct the movement of and ambulance and civil defense teams.

As the US-backed Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip entered day 191 on Saturday, aerial and artillery strikes continued to pound and target different areas, and massacre more civilians, mostly children and women.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the Israeli occupation army continued to attack different areas of Gaza, killing and injuring scores of citizens.

According to media sources, five martyrs and several wounded citizens were transported to Al-'Awda Hospital in Al-Nusayrat refugee camp in central Gaza when the Israeli army attacked them as they tried to return to their homes in northern Gaza.

A woman was also killed and others were injured in another Israeli attack on displaced citizens in the same area in central Gaza.

The Israeli army bombed Dair El-Bala'h in central Gaza, killing two children from the family of Abu 'Eisa, and wounded eight citizens in an aerial attack on three homes in Bait 'Hanoun in northern Gaza.

A child was also killed and three other children suffered injuries when heavy airdropped aid packages fell on them in two separate incidents in northern and central Gaza.

Another kid was critically injured when the Israeli army opened fire at him during his presence inside Abu 'Arban School in Al-Nusayrat refugee camp.

Casualties, including martyrs, were reported in Al-Nusayrat refugee camp following an Israeli attack on a house belonging to the family of Abu Ghoul. Rescue and medical crews were able to recover bodies of some martyrs, while others are still buried under the rubble.

Other casualties were reported in different areas of Gaza following Israeli aerial, artillery and shooting attacks last night and today.

Killing, Injuring, and Abduction of Palestinians in the West Bank by Israeli Occupation Regime Forces

Palestinian political prisoner, serving one month, dies in Israeli occupation regime prison

Sunday 14-April-2024

QALQILYA, (PIC)

A Palestinian prisoner was pronounced dead on Saturday in an Israeli occupation regime jail a few weeks after he was detained by the Israeli occupation regime police.

According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs, 59-year-old Abdul-Ra'heem 'Aamir, a resident of Qalqilya, died in Hadarim prison.

The Israeli occupation police detained 'Aamir along with his son on March 17 during their presence in Teera town before an Israeli court sentenced him to one month on a charge of entering Israel (1948 occupied Palestine) without a permit.

There is no clear information available so far about the reason for his death. 'Aamir and his son were seeking to find jobs in the town to support their family.

According to Israeli human rights group B’Tselem, many Palestinian workmen have no choice but to risk entering Israel without permits.

“They are caught between a rock and hard place: On one hand, Israel issues permits sparingly, based on arbitrarily chosen stringent criteria. On the other hand, it prevents the development of an independent Palestinian economy by restricting imports, exports, industrial development and movement, and by taking over land reserves and other Palestinian resources. This leaves Palestinians with no possibility to make a substantial living within the West Bank. This reality serves Israeli interests, as it guarantees cheap [and] disempowered labor,” B’Tselem says.

Escalating illegal Israeli settler violence in the West Bank echoes Gaza's war crimes

RAMALLAH, Sunday, April 14, 2024 (WAFA) –

Residents of the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, recount a night of terror, marked by unprecedented attacks carried out by the illegal Israeli settler militias under the protection of the Israeli army, reminiscent of the atrocities unfolding in Gaza.

The inhabitants of this village, situated on the eastern foothills of the West Bank, appear shell-shocked. They endured a night where young Jihad Afif Abu Alia, 25, was killed, and dozens were injured while homes and vehicles were set ablaze.

Since dawn on Saturday, Israeli occupation forces imposed a siege on the village with military checkpoints.

At the main entrance connecting Al-Mughayyir to the nearby village of Abu Fala'h, the charred remains of 11 vehicles torched by settlers litter the road.

The situation is no better in the eastern neighborhoods of the village, where vehicles and homes were partially burnt. At dawn, residents ventured out to assess the damage to their properties, finding some vehicles partially damaged.

Kadthim Al-Hajj Muhammad, an anti-colonialism activist in Al-Mughayyir, recounts the harrowing events: "We endured a horrific and catastrophic night, facing colonist attacks under the protection of the Israeli army."

"Over 15 vehicles were torched, homes partially burnt, and sheep pens destroyed by colonists, with the full backing of Israeli forces," he tells Anadolu Agency.

Al-Hajj Muhammad emphasizes that the illegal Israeli settlers are executing the Israeli government's agenda of displacing Palestinians and seizing their lands. "They control everything, preventing citizens from accessing their lands and shepherds from grazing their livestock."

Life in the village, he says, is perilous and fraught with complexity.

Meanwhile, Osama Jabr Abu 'Aalya inspects his home and those of his brothers in the town, remarking, "Nearly 1500 armed colonists attacked us. What can we do?"

He adds, "We're no better than our brethren in Gaza; our homes and vehicles were destroyed, and three of my brothers were shot, along with four of our children who were hospitalized."

"What happened is beyond imagination; everything is targeted, from humans to rocks and trees, even animals, some of which were slaughtered," Abu 'Aalya remarks.

He reveals that the  illegal Israeli settlers seized 50 sheep belonging to his cousins.

Abu 'Aalya inspects the burnt homes, noting, "We barely managed to evacuate our family, or else we would have lost them."

In the village, Tamer Abu 'Aalya surveys his home and two vehicles, remarking, "Thank God, wealth can be replaced, but the safety of the family is paramount."

He points out that colonists burnt two of his vehicles and parts of his home, while he rescued his family and a herd of sheep from the colonists' gunfire.

On Saturday evening, colonists renewed their attack on the village, injuring six civilians with live ammunition, one critically. They set ablaze a home in the village belonging to Khamees Abu 'Aalya and torched a fire truck heading to extinguish the flames.

Additionally, they fired upon the funeral procession of the martyr Jihad Afeef Abu 'Aalya.

Simultaneously, with Israel's ongoing and intensified onslaught on Gaza, Israeli occupation forces and colonist militias have been taking turns attacking defenseless Palestinian villages and communities in the West Bank, killing 463 Palestinians, injuring 4,750 and arresting 8,215 others since October 7, 2023.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and its unprecedented appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide, the Israeli onslaught persists.

The aggression on the Gaza Strip has left over 100,000 Palestinians killed and wounded, mostly children and women, alongside immense destruction and famine, claiming the lives of many innocents.
